Sustainable fashion is slow fashion and surely becoming main stream. Being a sustainable fashion brand one needs to produce the sustainable products which are better for the people, better for planet. Globally brands are working on the awareness of sustainable fashion and understand the need of becoming more conscious towards the environment and sustainability. In recent months came across limited collections of the international fast fashion brands, in which they used sustainable textiles made out of plants and organic wastes. As the consumer is on the path of understanding the climate change impact on their lives.

Fashion & textile industry is second largest polluter in the world next to oil industry. This is the huge negative impact on the environment itself. More than 15 million tons of used textile waste is generated each year in the United States, and the amount has doubled over the last 20 years. In 2014, over 16 million tons of textile waste was generated, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. We believe that the responsibility lies with producers who create the mindset of the consumers like fast fashion in the first place.

In Pakistan lawn is the mainstream fashion and one of the faces of fast fashion currently. The production of the several seasonal collections is the destruction to the environment. The brand making products in pret in the most economical prices ranges created the consumer behavior towards fast fashion. Previously consumers used put their efforts, thoughts in creation of making the garment makes them closer connection towards their product. The struggle to find the perfect  fabric according to their needs and choice, finding embellishments and then stitching process makes the consumer to look individual and also longitivity usage of the product in the consumer’s life. This process helped the garments not to end up in the landfill so quickly due to value for efforts and money involved in the process. Consuming fashion responsibly can feel like an overwhelming task. So many factors, so many things to consider. But actually, it’s easy: You need to buy less and keep your stuff for longer.

The change in fashion production process leads to the change in buying behavior due to which the production and distribution of the crops, fibers, and garments used in fashion all contribute to differing forms of environmental pollution, including water, air, and soil pollution.

Keeping clothes for longer makes a difference

The responsibility lies on the producers, designers to follow circular fashion system of sustainable fashion which will create the options and the awareness for the consumer, as we all have the power to make a conscious choice which will help making this planet a better place to live in for ourselves and our future generations towards sustainable fashion in Pakistan.
